OLI Toronto Trip
Each year those youth who are successful in the OLI program are provided with an unforgettable trip to Toronto. The purpose of the OLI Toronto Youth Trip is to celebrate OLI youth and acknowledge their achievements in the OLI program. The Toronto Trip provides youth with a reward for their hard work and an opportunity to share their achievements with others through performance.
In May, youth travel to Toronto where they are hosted for two weeks by the Tim Horton Onondaga Farms camp in St. George, ON. During the two weeks youth have the opportunity to meet new friends from other OLI communities, participate in camp activities, visit local attractions and prepare for the culminating performance.
Throughout their time in Toronto, OLI youth participate in daily rehearsals to prepare for the culminating annual performance. Youth rehearse their community’s choreography ensuring they are well prepared for performing on stage. You also participate in rehearsals for the ‘Closing Number’ with other OLI youth performers.
OLI is committed to providing youth with opportunities to see beyond the borders of their communities. In addition to participating in regular rehearsals, OLI provides all youth performers with a camp experience through the help and support of the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation.
While staying at the Tim Hortons’ camp youth participate in the camp’s regular curriculum, such as recreational games and group activities. OLI believes that having youth stay at camp provides them with opportunities to broaden their horizons in a positive atmosphere and encourages youth to develop as healthy individuals.
